The Montréal Exchange (MX) established a record level of trading activity on equity options on November 4, 2010. A record level of 166,876 equity option contracts traded on MX. The previous equity option record, totalling 156,120, was established on September 29, 2008. Top three most active classes: Manulife Financial Corporation (MFC), Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) and Sun Life Financial (SLF).

In addition, MX also reports that its trading volume for October 2010 reached 1,562,296 contracts, establishing a new record for monthly equity option volume, exceeding previous record of 1,538,440 contracts in October 2008.
